Increasing the production capacity of power plant turbines in hot environmental conditions

Product introduction

The Hot Ambient Solution (HAS) is an intelligent initiative designed to enhance the performance of V94.2 power plant gas turbines through both hardware and software improvements. This solution can be implemented during major overhauls while the gas unit remains operational.

The development of this project aims to increase power output and improve gas turbine efficiency under hot environmental conditions (which are predominant in the country). The core of this solution involves redesigning the compressor blades of the gas turbine to better suit hot climates, thereby enhancing air intake capacity.

The modifications lead to a significant increase in the turbine’s inlet air flow, resulting in higher power generation. Due to the changes in compressor blade geometry, the gas turbine control logic is also updated to align with the new design while ensuring compressor stability and combustion chamber safety.

The implementation of this standardized solution is based on design expertise and tools developed by Turbotech, guaranteeing its proper functionality.

How it works

  • Reconfiguration of fixed compressor blades (hardware)
Replacement of fixed compressor blades with new upgraded blades
    Control logic update (software)
Updating control logic in control system to match hardware changes

benefits

  • More than 10 MW increase in gas turbine power output 2 in hot ambient conditions More than 9% increase in air flow and more than 0.2% increase in compressor efficiency at high temperatures

Completed projects
